Bonjour Petite B&B friends, we are here in Paris again, on our annual sojourn to inspect our B&B homes and private apartments. It's the 8th trip since we first fell in love with Paris and launched our B&B service as a way for our guests to meet, stay and connect with real local Parisians in their beautiful boutique style homes for rich cultural immersion experiences.
It is Autumn, the 'golden' month where boulevards and thoroughfares turn rich shades of gold and red with beautiful leaves turning. The weather is spectacular, Summer temperatures by day, cool crisp by night. It's the perfect month to visit Paris.
Arriving at our studio, home for the next 3 weeks, we fall over backwards at a magical balcony view awaiting us of the Sacre Coeur Basilica on Montmartre Hill.
The studio we are staying in simple charming self contained at 119euro per night available to BOOK NOW. Interesting fact: Across the road is where Van Gogh lived - in an apartment that looks directly into ours, and his painting 'View of a room' is of our very home. A home with a story :)
First thing before B&B work, a meander around the beautiful familiar village appreciating the amazing weather, the bustling terrace cafes where aperol Spritz are still the flavour of the month and the gorgeous Fall foliage.
The Montmartre vineyard is looking especially beautiful at this time of year and grapes are ripe for the picking. The Harvest Festival is on every year in Montmartre in October - wine taste testing, food stalls, dancing, a festive parade, live bands on the streets and the restaurants in the village offer wonderful menus to accompany the new beaujolais (a particular type of wine harvested at this time from the Beaujolais region. For details about the annual even visit the Paris Tourism Website HERE
Apartment Lisette: First home visit was to see Lisette's apartment (right image), a gorgeous Amelie-style tranquil and stylish 2 bedroom private home on Rue Lamarck across from Lamarck Metro moments walk to the main sights of this village and with boulangeries, bars, cafes etc at your door.
149euro p/night for 1-2 and 179euro p/night for 3-4.
C'est Moi (above) inspecting Lisette's home comes with tea and delicious apple tarts from the boulangerie next door :)
Our second apartment inspection was Jerome's classic Saint-Germain 1 bedroom private apartment (image below) on iconic famous Rue Guisarde, the absolute heart of this chic cosmopolitan neighbourhood of Paris, minutes walk to Jardin Luxembourg, cult cafes like Cafe de Flore, Bon Marche, the seine river, museums and more.
It is 225euro per night for 1-6 guests OR 199euro per night for stays of 5 nights or more.
Apartment Delphine: Next, we were on to Delphine's apartment, inspected and approved once again to remain on our website of quality homes :) This 2 bedroom home is exquisite, very spacious (over 80m2) and right on the Seine river in the St Germain on Rue Seguier with views of the Notre Dame and the Saint Chapelle. Interesting fact: It is a unique historically listed home, once the Hotel Charon, and now a building with only 3 family owned penthouse apartments and it is featured in many historic books on Paris' most beautiful and famous buildings.

For a B&B break, we hit the colourful streets of Montmartre for the Montmartre Wine and Harvest festival - a key highlight of visiting Paris in October, as above. Wine, food, music, live bands, all le village is a buzz!
Petite Paris Cafe tip:
Instead of paying 4.50euro for a cafe creme, which lets admit is never really good in Paris (same for cappuccinos) we suggest asking for an 'allonge' which is like an Americano - a straight black, and just as for it with milk (avec du lait). Ok ok it is just as bitter but its 2.50euro so if you must do a coffee in a regular cafe or brasserie and don't want to pay $5-6 for it, get an 'Allonge'.
BEST coffee in Montmartre is at sunny 'Cafe TABAC' on Rue Ravignan. Go there! MAP
NEW CAFE in Montmartre is a NEW tiny Choux Cafe has opened in Montmartre on Rue Durantin.
Choux, if you do not know, are the new E'clairs! Warm cream filled puff pastries that are heaven. Here you pay 3.50euro for an 'allonge' coffee and it comes with 2 little puffs to enjoy. Breakfast for the sweet tooth. Open daily 11am-8pm except Sundays til 5pm and closed Mondays MAP
Les Puces (the flea markets). Weekends in Paris really should be spent at Les Puces de Saint Ouen. The incredible Antique flea markets, a maze like labyrinth of little streets lined with stalls from bric-a-brac to exquisite high end antiques, art, fashion, books, and hidden restaurants and cafes. We lost ourselves for an entire day here, happily, and especially loved the furry friends you find, the dinner settings you die for and old dolls you somehow cannot live without...Oops! MAP Open: Saturdays to Mondays 9.45am - 1pm and 2pm - 5.45pm
TIP: At the Saint Ouen Markets enjoy traditional gypsy Jazz (think Django Reinhardt) at the Markets every week either at Le Chope every weekend MAP - OR for a younger music jazz/soul scene the A.Picolo is a bohemian and friendly with a get up and dance crowd - MAP
Apartment Antonella: Later in the week we headed back to the trendy Marais to meet another NEW Apartment to join our Petite B&B website and it was love at first sight.
Antonellas (of Italian Original, Yogi, cat lover and happiness seeker) offers a 2 bedroom unique home of amazing style, decor and space overlooking a tranquil tropical garden - something so rare in Paris. Yet it is next door to Musee Carnavalet (Museum of Paris history - FREE) and the heart of the Marais.
The home is fully equipped with separate kitchen and dining room, a double bedroom and a single bedroom and bathroom with shower.
Amazing location in the heart of the Marais, you are mere walking distance to the very best of Paris, the seine river, Hotel de Ville, Place des vosges, Musee Picasso and more.
ONLY 145euro p/night to book 1-3 guests.
We discovered a new secret cemetery Saint-Vincent cemetary down a road we have passed a billion times (the mystery of Paris) Entry via Rue Caulaincourt, take a book, a sandwich and coffee and enjoy a peaceful Paris break. MAP
B&B Huguette: To finish the week we visited Huguette's classic cosy family home with incredible terrace (image below). This is a special B&B that will make you feel like a family member rather than a paying guest. We have been sending happy guests here for 2 years.
The home offers 2 guest bedrooms each with private bathroom - ideal for families - and who can resist that terrace with Montmartre view. Huguette is so sweet, motherly and loving guests often invite her to share breakfast together. Though she lives in a separate part of the house so guests can enjoy the entire lounge, dining and terrace as well as their private bedrooms. Up the road is a lovely quaint village with cafes, boulangeries and a wonderful traditional indoor market of gourmet foods, and the metro is 1 minute away taking you to the centre of Paris within 20 minutes. 99euro per night for 2 guests.
